Baby does tricks

I went to see Dr. Krasnoff for my monthly checkup today. She decided to do another Ultrasound so that she did not alarm me searching for the audible heartbeat, since we are still borderline being able to hear it. She found the baby right away and it actually looks like a baby now. In just a month it went from a coffee bean to a tiny baby! At first baby appeared to be napping, possibly a little bit of a food coma after the Chicken Fajita Bowl we had for lunch. Dr. Krasnoff was determined to get baby to show me what it could do, so she started poking around on my belly trying to arouse the baby. It finally awakened and started spinning around and waving its arms and legs. It was really neat to see the baby move around like that, I wish Jason could have been there but we did not know Dr. was going to do this. He will get his chance to see the baby when we go for our “official” ultrasound on Feb 13th. We will hopefully get to find out the gender of the baby at that point, pending cooperation from the baby of course.

Dr. says everything looks fine. I started to get some of my energy back this week, just in time to finish….ok START…my Christmas shopping.

I included the pictures from the ultra sound. If you use your imagination, the baby is lying down on the floor of its home with its head on the left. There is a little arm poking up in the middle. Jason seems to think it looks like him, because it has his haircut.

Say goodbye to embryo

Today marks the beginning of the third month of pregnancy, which means that hopefully by Christmas I will be able to stay awake long enough to get enjoy. I have not gained any weight, but I am definitely getting a belly. New clothes are in my near future!

Here are the latest developments:
  • Fingers and toes have separated
  • Facial features are starting to form, including the external ear, lips and eyelids
  • Nuni can actually respond to touch, it will move if the uterine wall touches it
  • The baby will fit in a tablespoon, which means that even if it does move there is no way I will feel it
  • With the formation of the first bone cells, the baby is no longer considered an embryo it is now a well proportioned small-scale baby

Baby Likes Baby Showers

We spent the weekend in KY again, for cousin Madison’s baby shower. Jason and I spent much of Friday night, preparing our dress cake and a diaper cake we had promised. We loaded it all up Sat morning and got to the church just in time to help with decorating and food prep. The shower turned out very nice, and Madison got some cool new digs. After the shower, we met up with Lori, Eugene and Whitney for dinner at my all time favorite restaurant, Los Portales. Lucky for me, baby likes Pollo Loco. Check out more pictures from the shower here.
