We arrived, settled into our condo a little early & headed out to get our groceries for the week. We came back expecting the parking lot to be more crowded but we were pleasantly surprised that the property didn't have nearly as many guests as last year(advantage of school already having started for most). We made dinner and headed out to the beach for an evening stroll and quickly became adjusted to "Island Time".
For the most part we did the typical beach vacation stuff: beach walking, sandcastles, dipping in the Atlantic, and swimming in the pool.
Here are a few of the highlights:
- We rented bikes and took advantage of the miles of dedicated, shaded bike paths. I think the whole family enjoyed this and will become a staple on future visits.
- Hayden became quite the swimmer with the assistance of his swim aid .
- Jason and I both read and finished a book while on the Island.
- We rode our bikes all the way to Shelter Cove(about 2 miles) and saw a couple of alligators at a safe distance swimming in the Cove.
- We sat on the balcony and listened to the frogs & waves at night.
- We just relaxed most of the time and didn't worry about anything!!
- Took a trip to Urgent Care to see if they could help Daddy feel better from his virus. ***Special thanks to Daddy for participating even though he was miserable at times :)***
When the week came to an end, we were once again saddened by the thought of leaving and already looking forward to our next opportunity we have to visit. The Island is so beautiful I don't think that I could get tired of visiting and making family memories. It was worth every moment of the 6 Finding Nemos I had to listen to in the car there and back!
